KIA complaint by Rtcmetal
I am absolutly pissed off that some engineer decided to include a timing belt, instead of a timing chain in an interference engine. The brainiac who decided to do this should be fired for being an idiot. My 2005 Rio timing belt broke and bent 10 valves. $1300.00 later it is still broke down with something else is broke on the inside of the engine. Of course the 100k mile warranty does not include the timing belt or damage to engine caused by TIMING BELT failure. Man was I duped into buying this piece of crap. Buyers beware of their deceptive advertising practices. They are not an honorable company. BUY AMERICAN MADE PRODUCTS. I sure am from now on.

Hey Adam,

You sound like a Kia fan. Sorry. I did follow the routine maintanence on my car. Nowhere in the manual does it state to "replace" the timing belt. It says "inspect at 60k, 90k and replace at 105k". My car has less than 90k on it. So wtf?

IT SAYS TO INSPECT THE TIMING BELT AT 60K MILES IN THE MANUAL. NOT REPLACE AT 60K. CHECK IT OUT FOR YOURSELF.

If you had kept up on your maintnance it would have been covered. You should have added that you did not follow the manufacturers recomended replacement interval for the timing belt. Don't follow the guidlines that chevy lays out and see if they will honor their warranty. They won't TRUST me I found out the hard way.
